Last updated: May 30, 2026 · Effective: May 30, 2026

Important By using Newslang, you agree to these Terms. If you purchase a subscription, please read sections 5–8 carefully — they explain auto-renewal, free trials, and how to cancel.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("user", "you") and Ömer Yıldız ("we", "us"), the owner and operator of the Newslang mobile application ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you accept these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the App.

News content is sourced from licensed publishers via NewsAPI. Images are from Unsplash with attribution. Audio is generated using Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. Article adaptations are produced using AI (Anthropic Claude).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Newslang. By using the App, you represent that you are 13 or older. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. Accounts

You may use Newslang anonymously or create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You may not share your account or use someone else's account.

5. Subscriptions and pricing

Newslang offers the following premium plans:

Prices may vary by country and are displayed in your local currency at the time of purchase. Apple may automatically adjust prices to account for taxes or currency fluctuations.

6. Auto-renewal and billing

Apple's standard subscription disclosure Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase:

7. Free trial

The Premium Yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. The following rules apply:

8. Refunds and cancellation

All subscriptions are managed by Apple. We do not directly process refunds. For refund requests, please contact Apple Support.

Canceling a subscription stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until the end of the paid period.

The Lifetime Access plan is non-refundable except as required by law.

9. License and use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

10. Intellectual property

The App, including its design, code, branding ("Newslang" name and logo), and original written content, is owned by Ömer Yıldız and protected by copyright and trademark laws.

News content is owned by its original publishers (BBC, Reuters, AP, The Guardian, and others) and used under license. Images are provided by Unsplash photographers under the Unsplash License, with attribution shown on each article.

You retain ownership of any vocabulary lists or quiz responses you create within the App.

11. AI-generated content

Newslang uses AI (Anthropic Claude) to adapt licensed news articles into three difficulty levels. While we apply automated validation and source whitelisting, AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies. Articles are intended for language learning, not as authoritative news sources. Always verify important information with the original publisher.

12. Advertising

The free version of Newslang displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) may be used to serve more relevant ads. You can decline tracking; the app remains fully functional.

Premium subscribers do not see ads.

13. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES.

NEWSLANG IS A LANGUAGE LEARNING TOOL. WE MAKE NO GUARANTEES ABOUT YOUR LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT OR LEARNING OUTCOMES.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ÖMER YILDIZ SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

15. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. You can delete your account from within the App or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately.

16. Changes to these Terms
